The Bit got to try out one of the new rooms in the brand new Oncology unit at Children's this last visit. She was followed by the news and everything. She told us her new room was beautiful. And it really was. The rooms are all private rooms. Very spacious with lots of natural light. And we could look outside and see the healing garden and the new just for oncology patients playground. Very fancy and fun.

Before going in for progress scans, Asher got to spend a few days at the lake playing and swimming. It was a joy to see her so happy and kid-like again. Sometimes she just seems so much older than a 3-year-old.

I love to see her so happy. And to top off the happiness, she got good news on her progress reports. The main tumor in her leg is shrinking. And some cancerous spots in her chest have disappeared altogether. When I read the results, all I could do was laugh and cry and thank God for listening to my desperate prayers of healing for this sweet child.

Thank you for following Asher as she is on this fighting journey! Thank you for ordering t-shirts and wearing Prayer Warrior bracelets and praying continuously for this kid I love so much. It's hard to put into words the gratitude we feel for you. Thankfulness doesn't even being to explain it. It's more like pure awe and humbleness.

So really. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Asher as she kicks cancer!

Update: Low White Blood Cell Count

You Prayer Warriors have been out praying in full force this weekend. Thank you so much. Really I can't say that enough. On Friday, Asher was put back in the hospital for a fever. After checking her counts, we found out she had basically bottomed out, which was to be expected after the first chemo treatment.

The first few days back in the hospital were full of fever ups and downs, blood count checks and things like that. Visitors were limited because germs of any kind would be detrimental to Asher's health right now because white blood cells fight infection. These last few days the sweet girl has been more like herself. I saw her on Sunday and she was just like normal...minus the ever-present Daphne.

The update as of this morning was her white blood cell count needs to be at 500, and they are currently at 376. So please pray for a speedy recovery so Asher can get back on her feet and out and about.

I know you guys have been seeing the pink, purple and blue Asher bracelets. We are currently waiting on another shipment. Round One is Over

One of 13 treatments is complete. Asher did amazing. She is such a trooper. Five days in the hospital is not for the faint of heart. Despite the three nightly chemo infusions, she did get to play outside, watch movies and have visitors.

Camp Wannaplay is a legit establishment, and Children's Hospital tries in every way to make the children and their families feel at home. Or as "at home" as one can feel in a hospital.

Sweet girl got to come home yesterday. And she got an awesome pixie haircut.

It only takes 10-14 days until her hair will fall out completely. So Susan and Justin are trying to get her prepared for what is to come. I personally think she will embrace the Bald is Beautiful mantra and rock her bald head. Isn't she absolutely precious?

In other news:

Kathy Thompson, a friend of Susan's, is creating necklaces in honor of the Bit.

Each necklace is handcrafted, and no one necklace is the same. Kathy currently has 10 necklaces made and is selling them for $20 each.

Seventy-five percent of the profit goes directly to the Asher Ray Benefit Fund. The other 25 percent goes to covering cost of the materials.

These necklaces are so pretty. I happen to love them, as does Susan. And we all know Asher loves anything pink and purple.

Since there are only 10 necklaces made as of now, we will be taking orders for necklaces.

Two Major Things: Treatment and Donations

Asher's Treatment: 

Treatment starts tomorrow morning at Children's Hospital. It will last three days. Asher will be administered her first round of chemotherapy. 

I think it's safe to say we are all nervous and scared. But we need to gather our strength. Collectively we are stronger together. Our prayers are stronger together. This child needs your prayers. This family needs your prayers. 

"If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You'll get his help and won't be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought." James 1:5-7 The Message Bible

Ask boldly, believing, without a second thought that Asher remain strong and courageous during her first treatment. Ask the Father that Justin and Susan have the strength to endure their daughter's plight. Ask that all our prayers for this child and her family be heard. And ask for Him to show us all the good within this bad. 

Just please pray. Please.

Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.
